    Overview

    We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to carry out the full range of day to day functions and duties of an Environmental Health Officer, in accordance with legislative requirements and the Council's policies and objectives.

    The successful candidate will be innovative and forward thinking, providing a high quality service to the public, the business community, internal departments, and external organisations, and assist in maintaining and improving environmental conditions for public health.

    Responsibilities
    • Carry out day to day functions and duties of an Environmental Health Officer in line with legislation and Council policies
    • Provide high quality service to the public, business community, internal departments, and external organisations
    • Conduct inspections and audits in the beauty industry, including massage or special treatments
    • Respond to service requests related to environmental protection concerns
    • Complete inspections for licensed animal establishments through required qualification
    • Analyze complex information and make informed decisions amid conflicting demands, keeping up to date with legislation, regulations, and guidance
    • Meet strict deadlines with a risk based approach, demonstrating self motivation and leadership in complex work sets
    Qualifications
    • Demonstrable record of experience in food safety and health and safety at work
    • Diploma or Degree level in Environmental Health (or equivalent)
    • Holder of, or in pursuit of, CIEH Certificate of Registration
    • Excellent communication skills with a strong commitment to customer service
    • Proven ability to work in a team and analyze complex information
    • Degree in Environmental Health with professional registration or near completion of EHORB registration (acceptable for newly qualified candidates)
