    Job Overview

    The Construction Environmental Planner works closely with operational teams, environmental specialists and external stakeholders to identify environmental risks, secure permits and consents, and implement practical environmental controls across a diverse portfolio of projects.

    Responsibilities
    • Identify environmental constraints, risks and mitigation requirements across construction projects.
    • Review project information relating to habitats, protected species, contamination, hydrology, heritage assets and noise sensitive receptors.
    • Prepare and coordinate environmental permits, licences and consents.
    • Produce, maintain and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
    • Support site teams through environmental briefings, inspections and toolbox talks.
    • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and ensure compliance reporting requirements are met.
    • Liaise with regulators, specialist consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions and company management systems.
    • Support environmental incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and environmental best practice across the business.
    Qualifications
    • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
    • 3-5 years' experience within an environmental role in construction, civil engineering or consultancy.
    • Experience of environmental permitting, compliance and management planning.
    • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and permitting requirements.
    • Experience supporting site teams and implementing environmental controls on live projects.
    • Knowledge of pollution prevention, waste management and sustainable construction practices.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office365 applications.
    • Experience with GIS, environmental reporting systems or document management platforms advantageous.
    • CSCS card or equivalent site safety qualification.
    • Full UK driving licence.
    • IEMA practitioner membership or working towards professional accreditation desirable.
