Our client has set ambitious climate targets, aiming to reduce the carbon intensity of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions across the global real estate portfolio under management by 50% by 2030, with a longer-term objective of achieving net zero by 2040.
The portfolio spans multiple asset classes, with this position focused primarily on office, retail, industrial & logistics, and residential properties across Europe.
Based in Munich with 4 Days in office and 1 WFH

Assessing net zero carbon audits and providing technical insight to support fund teams in shaping robust business cases and delivering practical decarbonisation roadmaps aligned with fund strategies
Identifying and engaging appropriate technical delivery partners, contributing to defining scope, commercial rationale, and implementation frameworks
Contributing to the annual sustainability capex planning cycle for priority funds
Supporting investment teams in the evaluation and selection of decarbonisation technologies and proptech solutions, including renewables, heat pumps, solar PV and building management systems, and facilitating their deployment
Overseeing project delivery in partnership with asset management teams to ensure interventions are executed effectively
Collaborating with relevant internal stakeholders and external advisers to secure applicable grants, incentives or funding mechanisms where available
Working closely with ESG and investment colleagues to embed net zero considerations into acquisition due diligence and underwriting processes
Developing and refining internal technical guidance documentation
Upskilling investment professionals to strengthen their confidence and credibility when engaging investors on net zero topics
Designing and delivering internal workshops and engagement sessions to build organisation-wide capability on decarbonisation
Representing the organisation at key industry forums and working groups, such as CRREM, Better Buildings Partnership (BBP), INREV and GREEN
Degree-qualified in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. building services engineering, architecture, surveying or similar)
Demonstrated experience delivering decarbonisation, energy efficiency or retrofit programmes across European real estate portfolios, including financial appraisal of energy projects and post-implementation performance verification; UK exposure would be advantageous
Proficiency with building services or energy modelling tools
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical specialists, investment professionals and external industry bodies
Proven ability to independently manage projects, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and budgets
Familiarity with the CRREM tool and confidence in adopting new analytical platforms
A strong commitment to sustainability and climate action
Highly collaborative, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
Comfortable operating in fast-paced settings with evolving priorities and ambiguity
Motivated to educate and support colleagues in developing their net zero knowledge
Sound understanding of the practical challenges faced by real estate investment managers when implementing decarbonisation strategies
