    Description

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Manager to lead operations at our Rotherham facility, specialising in biomass fuel production. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of site operations, including health & safety, fuel production, regulatory compliance, feedstock acceptance, stock management, and maintenance.

    You'll be a strategic thinker and a strong leader, capable of driving performance and fostering a safety-first culture. You'll also be the key operational interface with our fuel offtake customer, ensuring exceptional service and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Operational Management: Lead all site operations, ensuring safe and efficient processes.
    • Oversee daily fuel production, feedstock acceptance, and plant maintenance.
    • Ensure compliance with H&S and environmental regulations.
    • Use KPIs to drive performance across safety, quality, and profitability.
    • Collaborate with Contracts Management to coordinate fuel delivery and resolve issues.
    • Biomass Fuel Production: Champion fuel quality and lead quality assurance strategies.
    • Identify opportunities for waste reduction and process optimisation.
    • Implement and monitor waste management systems.
    • Stakeholder & Customer Management: Manage contractual obligations and operational risks.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team.
    • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
    • Align operational goals with other departments.
    • Maintenance & Resource Planning: Schedule and oversee regular maintenance to minimise downtime.
    • Optimise use of materials, labour, and equipment.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
    • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and product quality.
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles and monitor KPIs.
    Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications
    • WAMITAB/COTC
    • IOSH or equivalent (NEBOSH preferred)
    • Level 5 Leadership Apprenticeship or equivalent
    • Background in Operations Management or Engineering (preferred)
    Experience
    • 3-5 years in operations management, with at least 2 years in biomass or related industry
    • Proven experience managing large-scale production facilities and teams
    • Experience in outsourced or contracted O&M environments (advantageous)
    Skills
    • Strong leadership and people management
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making
    • Proficient in operational management tools and reporting
    • Knowledge of wood waste management and relevant regulations
    • Strong financial and analytical skills
    • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
