Fully remote - mainland UK only
Temporary contract until 31 March 2027
Put your FME expertise to work on an environmental programmeAre you experienced in building FME workflows and working with ecological data?
Pertemps are recruiting a GIS Analyst to support a woodland programme within a major environmental organisation. You'll turn complex environmental survey data into reliable spatial datasets and outputs that help inform land management and conservation decisions.
What you'll be working on
Your focus will be geospatial data workflows, automation and quality assurance. Using FME, you'll develop repeatable processes to integrate, validate and transform environmental information, including protected species survey data.
You'll work alongside ornithologists, ecological specialists and technical colleagues to ensure the resulting datasets and spatial products accurately reflect the evidence.
Your work will include:
Building, maintaining and improving automated FME workflows.
Integrating and transforming data from multiple sources.
Identifying data quality issues and developing validation processes.
Preparing spatial outputs for mapping products and decision-support tools.
Documenting workflows so colleagues can understand and use them.
Managing personal and confidential landowner and farmer information in line with GDPR.
The experience you'll need
Essential:
Hands-on experience designing, building and maintaining workflows in FME (Feature Manipulation Engine).
Practical experience working with environmental and ecological datasets.
Strong GIS skills, particularly spatial data processing, management and analysis.
An understanding of GDPR and handling personal or confidential data.
The ability to explain technical processes to colleagues without a GIS background.
This is a data and workflow-focused position, rather than a software development or manual ArcGIS Pro map-production role.
Why consider this opportunity?
Environmental impact:
Support evidence-based woodland and land management decisions.
Technical focus:
Apply your FME expertise to complex ecological data challenges.
Specialist collaboration:
Work directly with ecological and geospatial experts.
Remote working:
Work from mainland UK for the duration of the assignment.
