If so, we require an Electrical/Solar Engineer with commercial PV experience to strengthen the existing Operations & Maintenance team located within the North West Area. This role will involve covering sites across Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster etc.

Abouttherole:

As Solar O&M Plant Room Engineer you will be working within Energy Centres / Hospital plant rooms etc. This plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and electrical generation systems that distribute sustainable energy (such as heating, cooling, and power).

RolesandResponsibilities:

• Oversee,operate,andmaintainsolarPVplantequipment(inverters,DC/ACdistributionboards,stringcombiners,isolationswitchgear,monitoringhardware,etc.).
• Performplannedpreventivemaintenance(PPM)andreactivemaintenancetominimizedowntimeandmaximizeenergyyield.
• Monitorsystemperformance,solarirradiancelevels,DC/ACvoltages,andoverallenergyefficiency.
• DiagnosefaultsincommercialsolarPVandplantroomelectricalsystems.
• Carryoutcorrectiverepairsorescalatetospecialistcontractorswhenrequired.
• Ensureminimaldisruptiontobuilding/energycentreoperations.
• UseBMS(BuildingManagementSystems)orSCADA/SolarMonitoringportalstomonitorplantoperation.
• Recordandreportonsystemdata(generationoutputs,performanceratios,energyconsumption).
• Ensureallworkscomplywithstatutoryregulations(18thEditionBS7671,IETCodeofPracticeforGrid-connectedSolarPV,ElectricityatWorkRegulations,etc.).
• Carryoutriskassessments,methodstatements,andfollowstricthealth&safetyprotocols(PermittoWorksystems).
• Assistinplantupgrades,solarretrofits,andcommissioningofnewgenerationequipment.
• Maintainaccuraterecordsofmaintenance,electricaltesting,inspections,andsystemperformance.
• Completejobsheets,electricaltestcertificates,andcompliancedocumentation.

Whatyouwillneed

• HoldaCity&Guildselectricalqualificationorequivalent(e.g.,NVQLevel3,18thEditionWiringRegulations).
• ExperiencewithcommercialsolarPVinverters,DCstringtesting,andsafeelectricalisolation.
• FullUKmanualdrivinglicence.
