Spark Energy UK installs residential solar PV and battery storage systems across England and Wales. We are building employed regional installation teams in the South East and Bristol alongside our head office operation, supported by our own SparkOS platform for surveys, installs and evidence.

£26,000 - £30,000 employed, full-time funded route to a solar qualification

Spark Energy UK installs residential solar and battery systems across England and Wales. We are building our own regional installation teams - employed, not subcontracted - and we need an installer's mate to join the crew at our new Bristol hub, covering Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Somerset and South Wales.

You will be the third person on a three-person crew alongside a lead electrician and a roofer. This is a hands-on labouring role: you keep the job moving, keep the site safe and tidy, and learn the trade from two skilled people every day. No solar experience is needed to start - we hire for attitude, reliability and a head for heights, and we train the rest.

What the job is

• Four domestic solar and battery installations a week with your crew, Monday to Friday, with Friday mostly kept for deliveries, kit preparation and any remedials
  
• Loading and unloading the van, moving panels, batteries and rails safely, and setting up scaffold access and roof ladders
  
• Second pair of hands on the roof and in the loft - passing kit, fixing rails under supervision, running cable
  
• Keeping the customer's home tidy: dust sheets, sweeping up, leaving the site as you found it
  
• Evidence photos on every job through our own app (SparkOS)
  
• Occasional distance work when a job sits at the edge of the hub's patch - mileage and overnight allowance are written into your contract
  

Where it leads

We write a funded route to the City & Guilds 2922-34 solar PV qualification into the offer letter. Today's mate is the installer or electrician we do not have to recruit in three years' time, and we would rather grow that person than buy them.

What you must have

• Comfortable working at height and physically fit - this is a lifting and carrying job in all weathers
  
• Reliable, punctual and tidy - you are in customers' homes every day
  
• Full UK driving licence
  
• Right to work in the UK
  

What we would like

• Any site, construction, roofing or trade-labouring experience
  
• CSCS green labourer card (we will fund it if you do not have one)
  
• Asbestos awareness and working at height training (provided if you do not have them)
  
• An interest in becoming a solar installer or electrician - that is the point of the role
  
• £26,000 - £30,000 a year depending on experience
  
• Funded route to the City & Guilds 2922-34 solar PV qualification, written into your offer
  
• Shared crew van, tools and PPE supplied
  
• Travel and lodging policy in writing: mileage beyond the hub's local patch and a nightly allowance for overnight work
