Salary: £45k - 50k per year + Overtime & Overnight AllowanceReference: online-2867/7Join One of the UK's Growing Renewable Energy ContractorsMercia Electrical Ltd is an established renewable energy contractor specialising in commercial solar PV, battery storage and EV charging installations across the UK.As our workload continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Plant Operator / Groundworker to join our commercial delivery team.Please note that this role is Midlands based with nationwide travelThis is a varied, hands-on role combining plant operation with groundworks. We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of the team and is happy to get involved wherever needed.About the RoleYour time will be split between:Operating telehandlers on commercial solar installations.Operating mini excavators for trenching and excavation works.Completing groundworks for commercial EV charging installations.Excavating, installing ducting and draw pits.Reinstatement of surfaces including tarmac, concrete, block paving and soft landscaping.Loading and unloading materials and supporting site logistics.Working alongside electricians and installation teams to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.Carrying out daily plant inspections and basic maintenance.The role involves travelling to projects throughout the UK, with regular overnight stays during the working week where required.What We're Looking ForEssential:CPCS or NPORS Telehandler qualification.CPCS or NPORS 360 Excavator (Mini Digger) qualification.Full UK Driving Licence.CSCS Card.Previous experience in groundworks and excavation.Experience operating plant safely on construction sites.A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.Flexibility to work nationwide and stay away from home when required.Desirable:Experience within the renewable energy, EV charging or commercial construction sectors.First Aid at Work.Cat & Genny training.Street Works (NRSWA).Towing licence.Additional plant tickets.What We OfferCompetitive salary of £45,000-£50,000, depending on experience.Paid overtime.Overnight allowance and accommodation when working away.Company vehicle.Pension scheme.Ongoing training and career development.Opportunities to gain additional plant and industry qualifications.Long-term career with a growing renewable energy business delivering projects across the UK.Why Join Mercia?At Mercia Electrical Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality renewable energy installations for commercial and industrial clients across the UK.We're building a team of people who take pride in their work, support one another and want to be part of a company that's growing year after year.
