  • ProMatch is exclusively recruiting for an experienced Environmental Manager to lead and develop the environmental management, compliance and sustainability activities across our Client's marine and freshwater operations. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to influence environmental strategy, work closely with regulators and stakeholders, and help drive the highest standards of responsible aquaculture.

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Managing Director, the Environmental Manager will be responsible for overseeing the businesses environmental management systems, regulatory compliance activities and accreditation programmes. Working across the business, this role will collaborate with colleagues in Technical, Production, Finance and Sales, while maintaining strong relationships with regulators, external contractors and industry bodies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Leading and developing environmental management initiatives across marine and freshwater operations.
    • Maintaining and enhancing the Environmental Management System (EMS).
    • Coordinating environmental accreditation schemes and associated audits.
    • Monitoring environmental performance and ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinating statutory returns and communications with regulatory bodies.
    • Supporting and project managing environmental surveys, consent applications and renewals.
    • Representing the business during regulatory inspections and assessments.
    • Building and maintaining positive relationships with regulators, industry groups and other stakeholders.
    • Contributing to the continuous improvement of environmental procedures, policies and performance.
    About You

    We're looking for an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in aquaculture and a thorough understanding of the environmental and regulatory challenges associated with marine and freshwater production.

    You will have:

    • Proven experience in an environmental, compliance or sustainability role within the aquaculture sector.
    • A strong understanding of environmental legislation, consenting processes and regulatory requirements relevant to aquaculture operations.
    • Experience managing environmental audits, accreditation schemes and compliance programmes.
    • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
    • Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
    • A proactive approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and environmental best practice.

    Previous aquaculture experience is essential. Applications from candidates without direct aquaculture industry experience are unlikely to be considered.
