Project Environmental Manager Major Infrastructure Project

Client will provide expenses and accommodation for candidates that will be working away from home, ie: don't live in the local area

We are recruiting an experienced Project Environmental Manager to support the delivery of a major onshore cable infrastructure project in Scotland.

This is a site-based role with responsibility for leading environmental management and compliance across project delivery. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure environmental risks are identified early, controls are implemented effectively and all relevant requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead environmental management across site activities and promote best practice.
• Provide environmental advice to project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
• Implement and monitor environmental plans, consents, licences and project controls.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and monitoring, ensuring actions are closed out.
• Identify environmental risks and non-compliances and implement corrective actions.
• Support investigations into environmental incidents and environmental improvement initiatives.
• Review RAMS, methodologies and subcontractor documentation from an environmental perspective.
• Monitor environmental permits, licences and consent conditions.
• Maintain environmental records, KPIs and compliance trackers covering areas such as waste, fuel, water and incidents.
• Deliver environmental briefings, training and toolbox talks.
• Act as a key environmental contact for clients, regulators and project stakeholders.

About You

• Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting, consenting and construction compliance.
• Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, HVDC, utilities or renewable energy projects.
• Experience implementing and monitoring environmental management plans and site controls.
• Confident working with contractors, project teams, clients and other stakeholders.
• Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently on a busy project.
• CSCS or CCNSG certification desirable/required depending on site requirements.
• Competent with Microsoft Office.

Desirable: IEMA or other relevant professional membership, or evidence of ongoing professional development.
