Environmental & Sustainability Manager Nuclear Construction
Location: Leiston Suffolk
We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead environmental compliance and sustainability performance on Sizewell C, a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure project.
This senior, site-based role leads a multidisciplinary Environment & Sustainability team and provides assurance across construction, installation, commissioning, and handover. You will act as the primary interface with regulators, Tier 1 contractors, and senior project leadership, operating within a highly regulated DCO and permit-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead environmental and sustainability compliance across a major nuclear construction site.
Ensure compliance with DCO requirements, environmental permits, licences, consents, and ISO 14001.
Manage and develop a site-based E&S team (c.10 staff).
Drive environmental performance across Tier 1 contractors and supply chain.
Lead site inspections, audits, monitoring, and environmental investigations.
Act as primary interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators.
Develop KPIs, reporting, and performance dashboards.
Influence delivery teams across civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning phases.
Promote best practice, continuous improvement, and a strong compliance culture.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Proven leadership of Environmental / Sustainability teams on large, highly regulated infrastructure or construction projects.
Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and assurance frameworks.
Experience working with principal contractors, clients, and regulators.
Broad construction knowledge across major infrastructure or energy projects.
Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
