Responsibilities

• Structural Design: Design and optimize very lightweight, yet stiff and strong structures for solar panels that must withstand the extreme forces of launch and the conditions of space.
• Dynamic Analysis: Perform complex dynamic, thermal, and strength calculations (FEA/FEM), specifically focused on the deployment and operation of large, foldable Solar Arrays.
• Materials Science: Select and validate advanced materials (composites, honeycomb structures) to maximize weight savings and thermal stability.
• Validation & Testing: Involved in setting up and analyzing results of mechanical tests on subcomponents and complete arrays.

Qualifications

• A completed MSc degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering (specialization in structures).
• Extensive and demonstrable experience (minimum 5 years) as a Structural Engineer focused on satellite or space systems.
• Deep expertise in the structural design of Solar Arrays, antennas, or other foldable, lightweight space mechanisms.
• Highly skilled in Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) using leading software.
• Familiarity with strict quality standards and documentation requirements (e.g., ECSS standards).
• Fluent in English (the working language in aerospace).
