    DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Sr. Manager, Environmental Compliance, located in Raynham, MA or Warsaw, IN.

    Job Overview

    As a member of the global EHSS team, the Sr. Manager, Environmental Compliance provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure DePuy Synthes operations comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, and internal standards. This role leads environmental compliance programs, partners closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and EHS teams, and plays a critical role in risk mitigation, regulatory engagement, and continuous improvement. The position has direct impact on business continuity, regulatory readiness, and DePuy Synthes' commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Lead and oversee environmental compliance programs across assigned sites, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert for environmental regulations, permits, and reporting obligations, including air, water, waste, and chemical management requirements.
    • Partner with site leadership, manufacturing, engineering, and EHS teams to identify environmental risks and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
    • Lead and prepare sites for regulatory inspections and internal audits; manage responses, commitments, and follow up actions.
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental policies, procedures, and management systems aligned with corporate standards.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact; provide proactive guidance and strategic recommendations to leadership.
    • Manage, coach, and develop a team of environmental professionals; drive a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Support sustainability and environmental performance initiatives through data analysis, metrics, and performance reporting.
    Qualifications Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (required).
    • Master's degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
    Experience and Skills

    Required:

    • Typically requires 8-10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, EHS, or regulatory affairs within a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing).
    • Strong working knowledge of U.S. / EU environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, state agencies) and compliance management systems.
    • Proven experience leading regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance investigations.
    • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, business aligned solutions.

    Preferred:

    • Experience supporting multi site manufacturing or complex operational environments.
    • Familiarity with environmental management systems and sustainability reporting frameworks.
    • Experience working cross functionally in a matrixed, global organization.
    • Prior experience in the medical device or life sciences industry.
    • Strong change management and continuous improvement capabilities.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and risk management skills.
    Other
    • Language: English (required).
    • Travel: Limited; up to 20% travel, as needed to support site operations and audits.
    • Certifications: Professional environmental or EHS certifications (e.g., CHMM, CIH, PE) preferred.
