Trainee Solar Roofer

We are looking for trainee solar roofers. This role is perfect for someone with general roofing experience who wants to develop a long-term career in the solar industry. You will receive full training in solar PV installation, DC wiring, MCS standards, and electrical safety.

• Assist with installing solar PV panels on roofs under supervision.
• Learn correct mounting, structural fixing, and weatherproofing methods.
• Support the installation of:
  • DC wiring (module leads, string wiring, safe cable routing)
  • DC isolators and connectors
  • Monitoring hardware / optimisers
• Learn to work in compliance with:
  • MCS 012- PV mounting systems
  • IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected PV Systems
  • BS 7671(basic wiring and safety principles)
  • BS EN 62446-1(PV system testing/documentation awareness)
• Assist the senior roofer and electrician on site.
• Follow safety procedures for working at height, manual handling, and electrical hazard awareness.

• Roofing background preferred (but not essential).
• Comfortable working at heights and outdoors.
• Willingness to learn DC wiring and PV system installation.
• Good attitude, punctuality, and team-focused work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and training.
• CSCS card (desirable)
• Existing familiarity with solar PV (desirable)
