Are you looking for a role where you can genuinely shape the future of the UK's energy landscape?

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure megaprojects-at the forefront of clean energy delivery and the national Net Zero strategy. Building on the success of previous large-scale nuclear developments, this project will deliver reliable, low-carbon electricity to millions of homes for decades to come.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to provide leadership, drive best practice, and ensure full compliance across a complex, highly regulated construction environment.

    The Role

You will lead environmental and sustainability strategy on site, ensuring compliance with permits, licences, and regulatory commitments while embedding a strong environmental culture across the project and supply chain.

This is a high-impact leadership role, working across multidisciplinary teams and Tier 1 contractors on a major construction programme.

    Key Responsibilities
Provide clear leadership to environmental teams and Tier 1 suppliers
Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, licences, and consent conditions
Lead and coordinate environmental and sustainability activities across the site
Drive a high-performance environmental culture across project teams and the supply chain
Manage environmental risks and ensure mitigation of key environmental aspects
Engage with regulators, including the Environment Agency, and maintain strong relationships
Oversee ISO 14001:2015 compliance and environmental management systems
Lead site inspections, audits, and environmental surveillance programmes
Develop and track KPIs to drive continuous environmental improvement
Lead environmental incident investigations and implement lessons learned
Manage departmental resources, performance, and development of team members
Ensure adherence to quality standards and project procedures
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across the project lifecycle
    About You

You are a confident leader with deep experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or engineering projects. You bring a strong understanding of compliance, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement in regulated environments.

    Key Skills & Experience
Proven leadership experience managing Environmental & Sustainability teams
Extensive experience on large, complex, highly regulated construction projects
Strong knowledge of environmental permits, consents, and compliance frameworks
Experience across full project lifecycle (construction through to commissioning preferred)
Demonstrable ability to influence senior stakeholders and supply chain partners
Experience working with regulators and delivering regulatory commitments
Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Proactive, detail-oriented, and results -driven approach
    Qualifications
Degree in an Environmental (or related) discipline
Background in engineering, construction, or technical environments
Experience in regulated industries (e.g. energy, nuclear, infrastructure) highly desirable
