    We are seeking a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor to play a key role in shaping and delivering environmental outcomes across a diverse and high profile pipeline of infrastructure schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to broaden their leadership impact within a dynamic bid support and pre construction environment.

    The successful candidate will take on line management responsibility for one to two ES Advisors, alongside an enhanced remit to review and sign off schemes prior to submission, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across the portfolio.

    The role will also operate with delegated authority to represent the ES Manager and provide flexible, senior level support to the Heads of Scotland, England and Wales, contributing to strategic decision making and business performance.

    What you'll be doing
    • Champion the delivery of environmental and sustainability outcomes, engaging teams to embed actions supporting Building New Futures commitments and Bridging the Gap actions.
    • Manage environmental risks and opportunities by developing and maintaining project specific environmental and sustainability plans and risk assessments.
    • Contribute to the strategic implementation of project sustainability plans, driving actions, monitoring progress and reporting to senior Environmental Sustainability Team and project Leadership Team.
    • Support Environmental Advisors / Consultants and liaise with other group Sustainability teams to deliver the best sustainability outcomes for the projects.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and ISO14001 requirements, including directing and supporting project teams in the preparation of consents, licences, and permits.
    • Provide technical advice on environmental compliance, pollution control, waste, and ecology, ensuring alignment with the Business Management System (BMS).
    • Upskill project teams and contractors through toolbox talks, work package plans and onsite learning.
    • Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews; facilitate external audits; and report findings to project teams.
    • Investigate environmental incidents and observations, implement corrective actions and support continuous improvement.
    Who we're looking for
    • Practical application of ISO 14001, including risk and opportunity assessment and environmental controls.
    • Working knowledge of environmental legislation.
    • Knowledge of pollution, waste, ecology, and compliance frameworks.
    • Knowledge of key environmental sustainability data types used for measuring performance.
    • Experience conducting inspections and audits.
    • Advising on compliance and mitigation.
    • Supporting project specific sustainability plans.
    • Degree in environmental or sustainability related field (preferred).
    • Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) preferred.
