  • The Green Infrastructure Manager will lead and manage the development of green infrastructure across Cheshire East, which includes over 20 different countryside sites and over 2,000 km of public rights of way. This exciting role involves working in partnership with others, creating, developing and influencing relevant strategies and plans and seeking opportunities to improve natural capital and nature based solutions to help improve environmental and climate change impacts. Your work will enable people to enjoy the outdoors, contributing to the well being of communities and the economy by enhancing biodiversity and the landscape. Delivery includes operational accountability for Countryside Management and Ranger Services, Public Rights of Way, Countryside Access and Engagement.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Green Infrastructure team within the Rural and Cultural Economy Service. You will manage the delivery of the Countryside Ranger Service, Public Rights of Way team and Countryside Access across Cheshire East.

    About the Role:
    • Ensure the effective strategic and operational management of the Council's countryside sites, statutory public rights of way network and wider access to the countryside.
    • Lead, manage, direct, motivate and develop staff to deliver high quality and productive services.
    • Ensure the effective representation of Green Infrastructure in relevant policies, strategies, development processes and plans.
    • Engage and work with external partners and organisations to develop and maximise the potential resources and capacity.
    About you:
    • Degree or equivalent in land based discipline (e.g., geography, countryside management).
    • Extensive experience in this or a similar field with team leading and management experience.
    • Experience of financial procedures, including budget responsibilities.
    • Ability to interpret legislation and apply it to current situations, anticipating outcomes, options and opportunities.
    • Understanding of nature conservation, agriculture, countryside management and visitor management.
