  • We are looking for Renewables Technical Manager & Quality Supervisor to join Thermatic Homes.

    As the Thermatic Homes Renewables Technical Manager & Quality Supervisor, you are responsible for leading the technical delivery, design, and compliance of renewable energy solutions, ensuring high-quality installations and alignment with WARM HOMES funding requirements and industry standards. This role provides expert technical support, manages engineering teams, develops technical proposals, and ensures that all renewable installations meet regulatory, safety, and ISO requirements.

    Hours & Location of Work

    Main location- This role will be flexible, based at our Head Office in Manchester, but will also require travel to sites across the United Kingdom.

    Regular hours of work- Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications
    • Knowledge of ASHP wiring and Solar PV system design/installation (MCS-accredited standards), along with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and Electrical Test & Inspection requirements.
    • Strong understanding of electrical installation standards (BS 7671), NICEIC accreditation responsibilities, and compliance within funded frameworks.
    • Working knowledge of platforms such as MCS Installation Data, PAS Hub, Open Solar, and Easy MCS, as well as processes for submitting and managing notifiable works via building control portals.
    • Understanding of NICEIC audit requirements, including how to prepare for inspections, manage audits, resolve non-conformances, and maintain ongoing compliance.
    • Strong practical and applied knowledge of ASHP wiring, Solar PV systems, and electrical installations.
    • Ability to manage renewable energy projects and oversee technical compliance, including experience in supervisory roles.
    • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while maintaining quality, safety, and delivery standards.
    • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical information to a range of stakeholders (teams, clients, certifying bodies).
    • Capability to identify, address, and resolve compliance issues and non-conformances efficiently.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
    Responsibilities include Project Oversight
    • Lead the development, implementation, and management of ASHP and Solar PV projects, ensuring alignment with ECO/SHDF scheme objectives.
    Technical Leadership
    • Provide expert guidance on the design, installation, and commissioning of Solar PV systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations (MCS, PAS 2023).
    Electrical Quality Supervision
    • Act as the Electrical Quality Supervisor, overseeing the electrical elements of renewable installations and ensuring they meet the standards required under NICEIC certification and the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
    NICEIC Competent Person Role
    • Fulfil the duties of a Competent Person for NICEIC accreditation, including ensuring all notifiable works are compliant, up to standard, and correctly certified. Lead preparations for NICEIC inspections and manage accreditation renewals.
    Team Management
    • Supervise and mentor technical and electrical staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous professional development.
    Quality Assurance
    • Implement and monitor quality control and auditing procedures, ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, high-performance renewable energy systems.
    Stakeholder Communication
    • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met and maintain transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    Regulatory Compliance
    • Stay current on relevant legislation, industry standards, and best practices, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with MCS, NICEIC, Part P, and other applicable regulations.
