    General Description
    The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to contribute to an innovative research programme focused on environmental data science and climate-related challenges. This position offers an opportunity to work within a leading research intensive institution, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams addressing complex environmental and sustainability issues.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality research outputs, including data analysis, modelling, and interpretation of environmental datasets. Responsibilities include contributing to the design and execution of research projects, publishing findings in peer reviewed journals, and supporting the overall objectives of the research group. The role also involves collaboration with internal and external partners, contributing to reports, and engaging with broader academic and stakeholder communities.

    The postholder will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, manage project timelines effectively, and contribute to the academic environment through participation in seminars, meetings, and related activities.     Eligibility Criteria
    • A PhD (or near completion) in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Data Science, Geography, or a closely related discipline
    • Demonstrated experience in environmental or climate related research
    • Proven ability to produce high quality academic outputs
    • Experience working within collaborative and interdisciplinary research teams
    • Strong organisational and time management skills
    Required Expertise/Skills
    • Experience with environmental data analysis and modelling techniques
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar tools
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
    • Familiarity with handling large and complex datasets
    • Ability to communicate research findings effectively to academic and non academic audiences
    • Experience with statistical analysis and computational methods
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Salary Details

    £36,024 - £44,263 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
