  • Our client, a leading consultancy in the cross-sector engineering discipline, is currently seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role is based in Shropshire, and involves supporting the delivery of site investigations and ground characterisation works as part of multidisciplinary geotechnical and geo-environmental projects. This position offers the opportunity to develop and apply ground engineering skills within a professional and collaborative environment.



    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work within the Ground Engineering team under the direction of senior colleagues
    • Conduct research and investigations to develop an understanding of ground conditions
    • Assist in planning, specification, and management of ground investigations and laboratory testing programmes
    • Collate, analyse, and interpret field and laboratory test data for project design and assessment
    • Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and other engineering disciplines to develop project-specific solutions
    • Prepare technical deliverables including Desk Studies, Ground Investigation Specifications, Ground Investigation Reports, and Remediation Strategies
    • Attend sites and projects to assist with surveys, inspections, and ground investigations
    • Develop awareness of the commercial requirements of projects and support successful project delivery


    Job Requirements:

    • BSc or MSci degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
    • Good level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Knowledge of typical ground conditions and geology of the United Kingdom
    • Ability to anticipate and interpret ground conditions and develop accurate ground models
    • Understanding of how to derive geotechnical parameters from investigation data
    • Basic knowledge of industry-standard geotechnical software, including CAD systems
    • Good written and verbal English communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to organise and manage own workload effectively
    • A positive, proactive, and collaborative approach to teamwork


    Desirable Qualities:

    • MSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
    • CSCS card
    • Understanding of commonly conducted geotechnical and geo-environmental laboratory tests and their interpretation
    • Understanding of geo-environmental risk assessment and development of a Conceptual Site Model
