The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) is a world-leading school on sustainability transformations in research and teaching. The UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources (ISR) delivers world-leading research, teaching and engagement on the sustainable use of global resources. ISR's mission is to provide evidence, expertise, and training to respond to climate change and support sustainable transitions for people and planet.
UCL has launched in July 2024 a new Centre for Net Zero Market Design, with initial funding from corporate philanthropic contributions and focused on electricity market design. The Centre Manager would oversee management and operational dimensions of the Centre's activities: designing, developing and applying systems to ensure sound management of finance, stakeholder relationships and staff planning, and working with other senior staff to secure additional funding and professional engagement and communications aligned with the Centre's mission.
Reporting to and working closely with Michael Grubb, Professor of Energy and Climate Change and the Centre's overall Director. The Centre Manager would work with Professor Grubb as well as the Centre's Advisory Board, and will manage technical data and confidentiality of information potentially provided by stakeholders, as well as Research Fellows and other researchers associated with Centre activities. As part of the BSEERs Professional Services team, the Centre Manager would also work closely with Departmental colleagues in finance, communications and potentially recruitment.
The Centre Manager would work with Professor Grubb and relevant staff to manage and develop the operations of the Centre, including financial management and reporting, onboarding of future Partners and potentially associated projects, management of technical data and confidentiality of information potentially provided by stakeholders, procedural management and communications with the Centre's Advisory Board. The post holder would work with a wide range of ISR and departmental personnel to deliver effective recruitment, communications and impact as indicated below. The portfolio also will include operational dimensions of an associated project working on electricity market reform in China.
This post is available from 01 April 2026, at 0.5 FTE. The post has funding for 12 months in the first instance, further funding to support the post may be available.
