We're seeking an ambitious Electrical Design Engineer to lead HV substation and transmission line design, supporting the delivery of renewables, grid connections, BESS, and private network projects.

    You'll be joining our fast-growing Transmission & Distribution team in the UK, collaborating with a global network of technical experts and delivering critical infrastructure for a carbon-neutral future.

    We are looking for Engineers dedicated to detailed design work, 3DModelling, client interface, and project delivery.

    Position

    About The Role

    • Develop primary layouts and electrical designs for HV substations (110kV to 400kV)

    • Design and specify HV equipment, including AIS/GIS switchgear, transformers, and auxiliary systems

    • Provide design input across the full project lifecycle-from feasibility through FEED and detailed design to commissioning

    • Work closely with internal teams in civil, geotechnical, protection & control, and environmental disciplines

    • Deliver integrated designs that support smart grid, HVDC, renewable energy, and waste-to-energy projects

    Engage with Global Clients

    • Support utility and private sector clients in the UK and across Europe

    • Prepare high-quality technical documentation and reports

    • Ensure designs meet UK regulations and client H&S standards

    This role is UK-based, with flexibility to work remotely and support international teams across Europe.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Developprimary plant layouts for HV substations, ensuring innovative and efficient designs.
    • Specify HV equipment and ancillary systems for energy storage and renewable generation projects.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, environmental, geotechnical, and protection & control disciplines.
    • Deliver projects utilizing new technologies such asenergy storage, HVDC systems, smart grids, and waste-to-energy solutions.
    • Provide professional engineering services to clients in the UK and internationally.
    Requirements

    What We're Looking For

    Required:

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering, working towards Chartered status preferred

    • Minimum 2 years' experience working within the HV substation and power transmission sectors

    • Proven ability to produce technical specifications and equipment layouts

    • Strong knowledge of UK T&D regulations and H&S compliance

    • Excellent written communication skills in English

    • Experience in HV cable systems and overhead line design

    • Familiarity with ETAP, PLS-CADD, DIgSILENT, or CDEGS

    • Experience with BIM workflows in T&D projects

    • Site experience: testing, commissioning, or construction
