About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery of our solar projects from design through to commissioning. This is a key leadership role, ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical design and engineering of solar PV systems for commercial, and utility-scale projects.
• Conduct site audits, generate QC reports & snagging punch lists for installation teams.
• Experience of interpreting EPC contracts & specifications, ability to convert into electrical schematics, drawings and sub-contract work specifications.
• Author technical information for tender submissions. Create bill of quantities, rate cards and schematics from chosen design.
• Competent in cable sizing and AC network calculations.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and performance analysis.
• Liaise with project managers, clients, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Develop and maintain technical & handover documentation, including drawings, test certificates, compliance reports, and risk assessments.
• Assume Technical Nominee role for Electrical CPS scheme.
• Manage and mentor engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in solar PV.

Requirements

• Higher qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• Proven experience in solar PV design, installation, and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, grid connection requirements, and relevant regulations.
• City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing qualification.
• CSCS electrical supervisor/manager card.
• Proficiency in PV design software (e.g., PV Syst, AutoCAD) and MS Office.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience in utility battery storage construction and design.
• HV / Substation qualifications or design experience.
• City and Guilds 2396 Design qualification.
• SMSTS site management qualification.
