  • We are recruiting an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead the full site safety agenda for a high-volume, complex manufacturing environment. This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for embedding a world-class safety culture across a large single-site operation employing a diverse workforce.

    The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator, capable of influencing at every level from shop-floor colleagues to senior executives and driving continuous improvement across all HSE disciplines.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Lead the site s overall Health, Safety & Environmental strategy, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and corporate standards.
    • Act as the site s principal HSE advisor, providing expert guidance to the leadership team and operational managers.
    • Drive a proactive, behavioural-based safety culture through coaching, training, and visible leadership.
    • Own the site HSE management system, ensuring that policies, risk assessments, and safe systems of work are fully up to date.
    • Lead accident/incident investigations using root cause analysis; ensure corrective actions are implemented and audited.
    • Manage internal and external audits (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001), ensuring the site maintains or exceeds certification requirements.
    • Oversee COSHH, machinery safety, permit-to-work systems, emergency response planning, and contractor safety management.
    • Ensure effective environmental controls covering waste, emissions, Continuous Improvement
    • Drive HSE-focused improvement projects aligned with operational goals Lean, TPM, 5S, or equivalent methodologies.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) or equivalent Level 6 HSE qualification.
    • Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, chemical, or similar fast-paced environment.
    • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
    • Experience leading within a large single-site operation is highly desirable.
    • Proven background influencing culture change and improving safety performance.
    • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills.
