  • My client is delivering some of the UK's most significant power and infrastructure projects, supporting the government's ambitions for a low-carbon energy network. They're now seeking an experienced Environmental Manager - Permitting & Consents Lead to join their team and play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance and driving sustainability across major power projects.


    The Role

    You'll support the Senior Environmental Manager in embedding environmental best practice and ensuring compliance with DCO requirements, environmental legislation, and client expectations. You'll work closely with operational teams, engineers, and project managers to deliver sustainable, compliant, and forward-thinking solutions throughout project delivery.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing compliance with DCO requirements and developing actions to address any gaps.
    • Preparing, updating and managing DCO Management Plans.
    • Identifying and securing required consents, permits and licences.
    • Providing expert environmental and sustainability advice to project teams.
    • Supporting and mentoring a team of Environmental & Sustainability Advisors.
    • Drafting environmental documentation and contributing to project-specific deliverables.
    • Investigating and reporting environmental incidents, and sharing lessons learned.
    • Supporting sustainability training, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Promoting the company's Zero Harm and sustainability objectives across projects.


    About You

    You'll bring a solid mix of environmental knowledge, project experience and interpersonal skill. The ideal candidate will have:

    • A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental discipline.
    • Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and consenting regimes.
    • Experience within the construction or utilities sectors.
    • Proven ability to work with clients and regulators on compliance and permitting.
    • A practical understanding of sustainability in the built environment (e.g. carbon, waste, materials, biodiversity, social value).
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and engage others.
    • Experience managing programmes of work and reporting progress effectively.
    • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage subcontractors.
    • Full UK driving licence.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    Desirable:

    • IEMA membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
    • Experience with E&S Management Systems.
    • Working knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS).
    • Experience delivering against CEEQUAL or BREEAM standards.
