    This is a full time, fixed term externally funded post for a period of 14 months from the start date.

    Overall purpose of post

    To build and populate LCA models of wind energy systems involving wind turbines under a range of alternative scenarios specifically to do with End-of-Life (EoL) management, reuse and recycling.

    The post holder will also be required to carry out extensive literature searches to inform the model and identify key model parameters, and he/she will be expected to contribute to the dissemination of the project results via peer reviewed Journal Papers and/or Conference Proceedings.

    You will be responsible for:
    • Liaising with other ECORES-WIND project partners, both in academia and the industry, and to enable quick and efficient sharing of information and modelling results within the project consortium.
    • Carrying out an extensive literature review of previous LCAs of wind energy systems.
    • Leading the development of a whole range of detailed LCA models of corresponding wind energy scenarios, considering the use of innovative recyclable resins, and associated EoL dismantling, reuse and recycling options.
    • Carrying out a range of Sensitivity Analyses on the aforementioned LCA models (to be defined under supervisory guidance).
    • Contributing to writing papers and assisting with the preparation thereof, for publication at the level of quality required for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
    • Participating in the annual Personal Development and Review process, and to actively contribute to the research culture of the Department.
    • Carrying out any other duties as required by the line manager/mentor within expectation of the appointed grade.
    You should have:
    • An MSc or PhD degree or equivalent in materials science and engineering or another related scientific or engineering discipline, and should have a strong background in sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment.
    • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
    • Good communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English are required.
