    Overview / Responsibilities

    AC Environmental Consulting Ltd is a small and friendly consultancy based in Stoke on Trent but working throughout England and Wales on projects in waste and recycling.

    Our work in this area is varied not only in nature but also in terms of the range of public and private sector clients that we work for. Recent projects include the preparation and submission of large-scale waste planning and environmental permit applications for large materials recovery facilities and smaller waste management companies.

    This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of our planning and permitting business throughout England. You will work with our small and friendly team to identify, deliver and manage projects for waste companies, developers and local authorities regionally and throughout the England and Wales.

    This is a trainee role leading to full time permanent employment as a waste planning and permitting consultant. You will be mentored throughout to develop the skill set and experience necessary for the role and appropriate training will be offered. This role offers great exposure to a wide range of environmental disciplines as well as full training & a friendly working environment.

    Candidates with previous Environmental Permitting experience are also welcomed to apply.

    About you:

    • You will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Environmental Science, Geography, Geology or related subjects
    • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • You will be flexible, confident and persuasive in discussion and in the written word.
    • You will have a clean driving licence and a car, as travel within England and Wales is a key element of the role.
    • Past experience is not essential; an excellent command of written English, experience of report writing, a willingness to learn and an interest in environmental matters are key to the role.

    Duties:

    • Undertake Environmental Permit applications & liaise with relevant parties inc. regulators.
    • Assist with preparation and management of Planning Applications.
    • Prepare and/or oversee other technical reports such as air quality assessments, noise assessments, dust & odour management plans etc as required.
    • Help our TCM team in supporting our wider client base
    • As a trainee role, the post is based in our office in Stoke on Trent
