    Overview:

Are you interested in shaping how the UK understands and debates carbon dioxide removal (CDR) within the context of the net zero transition, particularly the role of land use and nature? Do you excel at making complex issues accessible to a broad audience, including journalists, decision-makers, and the public?

The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting informed debate on energy and climate change issues in the UK. We provide independent analysis and accessible briefings to media and stakeholders to enhance understanding of climate-related topics and promote evidence-based discussions. Our work covers various issues, including land use, transport, power, heating, and buildings, primarily focused on the UK but also involving international projects.

This role involves monitoring and engaging with media, political, and policy debates on CDR, initially focusing on land-based removals and later expanding to engineered removals. You will identify trade-offs, counter misinformation, and support fact-based discussions for future debates.

You will work closely with our Head of Land and Head of Analysis to develop new analyses, monitor debates, and contribute to communication outputs. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the UK's engagement with one of the most complex and rapidly evolving areas of climate policy.
